Previous experience in swimming is not essential. We are looking for individuals who bring fresh perspectives, sound judgement and a passion for good governance, making a positive difference in our communities and helping sport continue to thrive throughout Southland.
Board members play an important role in providing strategic direction, oversight and good governance for Swimming Southland.
Key expectations include:
Contributing to the strategic direction and long-term sustainability of Swimming Southland.
Providing sound governance, oversight and informed decision-making.
Supporting the organisation's vision, values and objectives.
Contributing professional skills, knowledge and experience to Board discussions.
Providing appropriate oversight of organisational performance, financial management and risk.
Acting in the best interests of Swimming Southland and the wider swimming community.
This is an unpaid governance position.
Board positions are for a term of up to three years.
Board members are expected to attend regular Board meetings and actively contribute to strategic planning, governance and decision-making.
While preference will be given to individuals based in Southland, we welcome applications from across New Zealand. Board meetings can be attended via Microsoft Teams, provided successful candidates are able to attend one or two in-person meetings each year.
We are looking for people who:
Are passionate about community sport and its positive impact.
Bring skills, experience or perspectives that will strengthen our Board.
Can contribute constructively to discussions and decision-making.
