The Opportunity (He angitūtanga)
Earth Action Trust (EAT) is seeking an organised, proactive and community-minded Operations & Volunteer Coordinator to help strengthen the day-to-day operations of our growing environmental charity.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing structure to a busy organisation, connecting people, improving systems and making things happen.
Working closely with our Operations Lead, you will support organisational administration, coordinate our volunteer network and help improve the systems and processes that enable our environmental programmes to thrive.
We're looking for someone who takes initiative, works confidently and independently, and enjoys being part of a small, collaborative team. As EAT continues to grow and evolve, you'll have a genuine opportunity to shape how we work and contribute to our future development.
About Earth Action Trust (Nuku Nuku a Papatūānuku)
Earth Action Trust is a migrant-led charitable organisation empowering Auckland's ethnic communities through environmental education and action.
We specialise in delivering practical sustainability programmes that connect people with climate action, waste minimisation, flood resilience and environmental stewardship.
Our work is guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles, and we are committed to embedding Te Ao Māori perspectives into the way we work, engage with communities and care for the environment.
About the Role
The Operations & Volunteer Coordinator plays a central role in keeping EAT's organisational operations running smoothly and supporting volunteers across our environmental programmes.
You will coordinate everyday administration, maintain organisational information and systems, support volunteer engagement and development, and provide administrative support across the organisation, including governance activities.
As a central point of coordination across EAT, you will help keep information organised, people connected and agreed actions moving forward.
This role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys improving processes, working with diverse communities and helping a small organisation become more effective and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Administration: Coordinate day-to-day organisational administration, including office resources, bookings, equipment, shared calendars, records and general enquiries. Support team and Board meetings, maintain minutes and action registers, coordinate policy documentation and implementation, and ensure organisational records are well maintained.
Volunteer Coordination & Development: Support EAT's organisation-wide volunteer network through recruitment, onboarding, induction, communication, volunteer matching and recognition. Maintain volunteer records and help establish consistent processes that strengthen volunteer engagement, retention and development.
Organisational Coordination & Systems Improvement: Work closely with the Operations Lead and programme teams to improve administrative workflows, maintain shared systems and documentation, track organisational priorities and follow up on agreed actions. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and strengthen operational efficiency.

Excellent written communication, documentation and record-keeping skills.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to coordinate and engage volunteers and stakeholders.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to take initiative and follow through on agreed actions.
