The Little Miracles Trust is seeking an experienced, compassionate and values-driven Team Leader: Service Delivery to lead our Auckland and Middlemore Service Delivery Team, while providing an additional layer of leadership and support across our national Service Delivery Team.
This is a unique role that combines hands-on, whānau-centred service delivery with people leadership, relationship management and wider national support. You’ll work closely with our National Service Delivery Manager to ensure our people feel supported, our cot-side in-unit services remain consistent, excellent and safe, and neonatal whānau continue to receive the very best support we can provide.
As Team Leader: Service Delivery, you will have day-to-day responsibility for our Auckland and Middlemore team, providing empathetic, practical and responsive leadership across both NICU sites.
You’ll be a visible and connected presence across Auckland and Middlemore NICUs, supporting our Family Support Coordinators and building strong relationships with NICU teams and across the wider Little Miracles Trust.
Alongside your regional leadership responsibilities, you’ll work closely with the National Service Delivery Manager, providing an additional point of contact, guidance and service support for our wider national Service Delivery Team.
This includes helping our people navigate day-to-day challenges, supporting consistent ways of working across regions, identifying emerging needs or pressures, and providing continuity of leadership when the National Service Delivery Manager is unavailable.
While the National Service Delivery Manager retains overall accountability for the leadership, performance and strategic direction of the Service Delivery Team, this role plays an important part in ensuring our people have timely access to support, guidance and leadership.
The role will be based across Auckland and Middlemore Hospitals, with some flexibility to work from home one day per week, where appropriate. Parking costs are covered as part of the position.
This is a part-time role of 20 hours per week, worked across four or five days:
Flexibility to work across both Auckland and Middlemore Hospitals is required.
Shifts will generally fall between 9am and 5pm, with some flexibility for the right candidate.
The successful candidate must be available to work Wednesdays and Fridays.
The majority of shifts will be based at Auckland NICU.
Days and hours will be agreed and confirmed before the successful candidate commences.
Lead and support the Auckland and Middlemore Service Delivery Team across both NICU sites.
Maintain a visible, approachable and connected leadership presence across Auckland and Middlemore.
Work alongside the National Service Delivery Manager to support safe, consistent and excellent service delivery nationally.
Provide an additional point of contact, guidance and escalation for the wider Service Delivery Team, particularly when the National Service Delivery Manager is unavailable.
Support team members to problem-solve day-to-day challenges, providing guidance within delegated responsibilities and escalating significant matters appropriately.
Mentor and develop team members, building confidence, capability and understanding of LMT expectations.
Support workforce planning, including staffing, leave coverage, vacancies and changing service needs.
Support recruitment, onboarding, induction and training of new Service Delivery Team members.
Build and maintain strong relationships with NICU teams.
Promote strong communication, collaboration, shared learning and consistent ways of working across the national team.
Identify emerging risks, pressures, service gaps and opportunities for improvement, ensuring these are appropriately communicated and escalated.
Model and uphold LMT’s values, professional standards, policies, procedures and boundaries.
Contribute to regional and national Service Delivery meetings and wider service improvement initiatives.
You are an experienced people leader who leads with empathy, consistency and professionalism.
You know how to create an environment where people feel supported while maintaining clear expectations, healthy boundaries and accountability. You’re comfortable making day-to-day decisions, while also recognising when something needs to be escalated.
You can see beyond the needs of your immediate team and think about what will support a strong, connected and consistent national service.
You will bring:
Experience successfully leading and supporting people, ideally across multiple sites or locations.
An understanding of The Little Miracles Trust’s mahi and the needs of neonatal whānau, or the ability to quickly develop this understanding.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships across teams, regions and professional environments.
High emotional intelligence, empathy, resilience and sound judgement.
A calm, practical and solutions-focused approach to leadership.
Strong organisational skills, with excellent reporting and follow-through.
Outstanding attention to detail and the ability to see tasks through to completion.
Confidence mentoring, guiding and developing others.
Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding, induction and/or training.
The ability to recognise emerging needs, patterns, risks and opportunities for improvement.
Strong professional and personal boundaries, particularly when supporting people through sensitive or emotionally challenging situations.
The ability to work independently while remaining collaborative, transparent and closely connected with the National Service Delivery Manager.
A genuine commitment to diversity, inclusion, culturally safe practice and whānau-centred care.
A willingness to step up, take responsibility and provide calm, clear leadership when it is needed.
At The Little Miracles Trust, we show up for neonatal whānau and for each other.

The Little Miracles Trust provides support to the whānau of premature and critically ill full-term babies, as they make their journey through neonatal intensive care and special care units, the transition home, and onwards.
This is done in many ways: cot-side peer support in every New Zealand NICU, the provision of Emergency Care Packs on entry to every unit; morning teas to bring whānau and experts together; resources to support hardship; and a national network of post-discharge playgroups.
We have passionate and dedicated team members based in Auckland, Middlemore, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin NICUs supported by a back-office team. Most of our team have first-hand experience of time in a NICU or SCBU. So we know exactly what it’s like – and just how to help.
