Animals Aotearoa is looking for a skilled campaigner to join our team.

This role is part-time with the possibility to extend to full-time in 2027.
About Animals Aotearoa
Animals Aotearoa is a registered charity run based on effective altruism principles. Our strategy focuses on improving the welfare of farmed animals in neglected/underserved areas, where changes impact many individuals and alleviate significant suffering, using methods with a proven track record of creating tractable change.
Our current focus is corporate campaigns to secure high-value welfare commitments from food brands, and a political campaign to get octopus farming banned legally. We’re looking for an additional campaigner to add capacity to our team
Animals Aotearoa is led by a dedicated board, and day-to-day operations are managed by a small team of contractors. Our contractors work remotely, collectively at the same level, and are paid the same rate. We value transparency, honesty, constructive feedback, and flexible working arrangements. We encourage applicants from all backgrounds to apply, even if they meet only part of the job criteria.

We are the only New Zealand-based organisation focused on improving the lives of chickens bred for meat, primarily via achieving corporate welfare commitments from food businesses.
Chickens bred for meat are our primary focus, as this is where we can make the most difference for the most animals - chickens are the most numerous farmed land animal in New Zealand and their suffering is appalling.
Our goal is to secure commitments from food businesses to make changes in line with the Better Chicken Commitment and to raise public awareness of the welfare issues associated with the breed, stocking density, living environment, and slaughter of these animals.
