About the role

Salvation Army Social Housing (SASH) is a registered Community Housing Provider supporting whānau throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. SASH’s aim is for all whānau to have a warm, dry and safe place to live within a caring community.

Reporting to the National Asset and Tenancy Support Manager and working closely with the Housing Support Coordinators, you will help ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the SASH office and nationwide housing programme.

This is a varied role spanning financial administration, tenancy support, office coordination and wider team support. You will gain exposure to the systems, processes and tenancy work involved in running a community housing provider, making this a great opportunity to build your knowledge and develop a career within the housing sector.

You will be a central point of contact for colleagues, tenants and other stakeholders, ensuring enquiries are handled professionally and information reaches the appropriate people. You will also take ownership of a range of important administrative and financial processes, keeping records accurate, activities coordinated and the wider team well supported.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the SASH inbox and act as a first point of contact for enquiries
  • Maintain accurate tenancy and property information within the tenancy management system
  • Coordinate contractor and project invoices, payment approvals and internal journals
  • Process staff reimbursements, credit card approvals and motor vehicle returns
  • Support the tracking of rent arrears and annual affordable tenancy rent reviews
  • Prepare quarterly reports and collate information for Community Housing Aotearoa and the SASH Board as required
  • Maintain organised, accurate and secure electronic records
  • Assist with office coordination, supplies, travel bookings and meeting logistics

What we’re looking for

You will be an organised and capable administrator who enjoys variety, takes ownership of your work and follows tasks through to completion. You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities independently while remaining closely connected to a collaborative nationwide team.

You will bring:

  • Strong administration experience, ideally within a multi-functional organisation
  • Basic bookkeeping, invoicing or financial processing experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and confidence working with financial information
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication
  • Sound judgement and a commitment to privacy and confidentiality
  • The ability to interpret and work within policies, contracts and relevant legislation
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to communicate respectfully with whānau and people from diverse backgrounds
  • A genuine alignment with the mission and values of The Salvation Army

Knowledge of community housing and residential tenancy legislation would be advantageous but is not essential.

Why join The Salvation Army?

You will join a supportive and purpose-led team while gaining broad exposure to community housing operations. This is an opportunity to build valuable sector knowledge and experience that can support your future progression into more specialised housing and tenancy roles.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Wellington City.

  • An additional working week of Salvation Army leave awarded annually on 1 July
  • Ongoing professional development and training opportunities
  • Free confidential counselling services to support your wellbeing
