Trustee Responsibilities

As a Trustee of the Rowley Community Centre Charitable Trust, members are expected to:

  • Attend Board meetings, special meetings, and key Centre events wherever possible.
  • Be familiar with the Trust's mission, vision, values, strategic goals, policies, services, and programs.
  • Read agendas, reports, and supporting documents before meetings to enable informed decision-making.
  • Participate actively in discussions and contribute skills, knowledge, and experience to Board deliberations.
  • Serve on subcommittees, working groups, or special projects when required.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Trust by promoting the organisation and its work within the community.
  • Support the recruitment of new Trustees who can contribute positively to the governance and future direction of the Trust.
  • Maintain awareness of developments and issues affecting the community sector and the communities we serve.
  • Comply with all conflict of interest, confidentiality, and governance policies.
  • Respect the distinction between governance and operational management and avoid directing staff outside agreed processes.
  • Exercise sound financial oversight, including reviewing budgets, financial reports, and ensuring the Trust's resources are used responsibly.
  • Support fundraising, sponsorship, and sustainability initiatives where possible.
  • Uphold the values and reputation of the Trust in all interactions and decisions.
  • Act in the best interests of the Trust and the communities it serves at all times.
