About the role
Civil Contractors New Zealand (CCNZ) is the national association for New Zealand’s civil construction industry, representing just over 500 contractor and 300 associate members involved in civil engineering, construction and general contracting. CCNZ members build and maintain the infrastructure New Zealanders rely on every day, including roads, transport networks, water and other essential services.
This is a varied and people-focused role providing administration and coordination support across three key areas of CCNZ - general office administration, membership and events, and Civil Trades.
Working closely with the wider CCNZ team, you’ll help keep the national office running smoothly while also being a key point of contact for members, stakeholders and people working across the civil construction industry.
On the membership and events side, you’ll help maintain CCNZ’s membership database and support the delivery of a busy programme of events, including the annual conference, awards, competitions, stakeholder functions and national roadshows. Your involvement will range from registrations, venues and catering through to being on the ground helping events run smoothly, with some national travel required.
You’ll also provide administration and coordination for Civil Trades, an industry certification that recognises the skills, competency and experience of qualified civil construction professionals. You’ll support people through the application, evaluation, certification and recertification process, liaise with candidates and independent evaluators, respond to enquiries and keep each stage of the process moving.
Alongside this, you’ll take care of the practical administration that keeps a busy office functioning well, including travel bookings, meetings, suppliers, general enquiries and office services.
What we’re looking for
CCNZ is looking for an experienced administrator who enjoys working with people as much as they enjoy keeping things organised. You’ll be proactive, responsive and genuinely helpful, with the confidence to take ownership of an enquiry or task and see it through.
You don’t need to know the civil construction industry when you arrive, but you’ll be curious and keen to learn, building your knowledge over time so you can confidently assist members and others who contact CCNZ.
You will also bring:
Experience working within a membership, industry or stakeholder-focused organisation would be useful, as would exposure to a certification, accreditation or similar programme, but neither is essential.
Why join Civil Contractors New Zealand?
This is an opportunity to take on a genuinely varied role where no two days will necessarily look the same. You’ll work across different parts of CCNZ, build relationships with people throughout the organisation and wider industry, and develop a broad understanding of a sector that plays an essential role in communities across New Zealand.
You’ll join a friendly, collaborative and high-trust team where people work together, pitch in when needed and have flexibility in how they work.
This is a permanent full-time position based on Kaiwharawhara Road in Wellington. CCNZ offers flexibility around start and finish times and occasional working from home. Some travel and flexibility outside standard business hours will be required to support events. A competitive salary and subsidised health insurance cover is also on offer.
