One Mother to Another is looking for a Volunteer Development Coordinator (9 month contract 10 hours per week) to help shape the direction of our growing volunteer community during an exciting season of momentum and growth.
About the Role
The Volunteer Development Coordinator will play a key role in strengthening OMTA’s volunteer systems and building scalable, sustainable volunteer-led operations that support organisational growth, retention, leadership development, and long-term sustainability.
Working alongside staff and volunteers, you will formalise processes, strengthen operational structure, support volunteer leaders, and implement systems that improve consistency, accountability, and volunteer experience across the organisation.
This role will suit someone who is a flexible self-starter with initiative, ideas and strong people skills - someone equally comfortable with big-picture thinking and practical admin. The role will involve strengthening volunteer systems, developing training and resources, creating leadership pathways, improving volunteer engagement, and helping build sustainable volunteer-led teams across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Role Development & Programme Formalisation
Develop structured role descriptions for key volunteer functions
Document responsibilities, expectations, and time commitments
Establish clear reporting lines between volunteers, volunteer leaders, and staff
Develop accountability frameworks for volunteer-led roles
Volunteer Infrastructure & Systems
Design and implement structured volunteer onboarding processes
Develop clear volunteer pathways from entry-level through to leadership
Create a documented volunteer leadership progression framework
Develop succession planning processes for volunteer teams
Ensure systems and processes are documented, transferable, and sustainable
Work within Better Impact to streamline volunteer recruitment, record keeping, and communications
Volunteer Leadership Development
Identify and develop potential volunteer leaders across priority teams
Support the appointment of volunteer leaders within operational areas
Provide mentoring, training, and ongoing support to volunteer leaders
Assist with transitioning agreed operational functions to volunteer-led oversight
Volunteer Engagement & Activation
Coordinate and mobilise volunteers for events and operational activities
Identify opportunities to expand volunteer involvement across the organisation
Increase volunteer participation across priority areas
Volunteer Community & Retention
Implement volunteer feedback processes, including surveys and check-ins
Strengthen volunteer engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives
Monitor volunteer participation and retention throughout the contract period
Volunteer Communications & Resources
Develop onboarding and welcome materials for new volunteers
Create role-specific guides and training resources/videos
Establish a centralised volunteer resource library
Implement a clear and consistent volunteer communications framework
