Job Description
About the role
This role focuses on improving the quality, consistency, and usefulness of data across our regional resource recovery network. You will work closely with member organisations, the project team, and the General Manager to ensure data systems are fit for purpose and reporting is accurate and timely.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing existing data systems and reporting processes across our member network to understand strengths, gaps, and inconsistencies.
- Supporting members to meet their reporting requirements, including troubleshooting issues, providing guidance, and helping build confidence in data processes.
- Identifying and addressing inconsistencies in how data is collected, defined, and reported across the membership.
- Working with the team to design and implement a new, standardised data system, including templates, definitions, processes, and training materials.
- Helping develop clear data management guidelines to support the long-term success of the Trust’s Outcomes Measurement Framework.
- Maintaining organised documentation and supporting the development of simple, user-friendly tools for community organisations.
This is a part-time, flexible role ideal for someone who enjoys improving systems, supporting people, and working with meaningful community-focused data.
About You
You will bring a mix of technical capability, system thinking, and a collaborative approach. You enjoy working with data, but you also enjoy working with people — especially helping others build confidence and consistency in their reporting processes.
You will have:
- Experience working with data, reporting systems, or information management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify inconsistencies and recommend practical solutions.
- Experience supporting people to use systems or reporting tools — whether through training, troubleshooting, or documentation.
- Good understanding of data quality principles, including accuracy, consistency, and integrity.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks independently.
- Comfort working in a small, developing organisation where flexibility and initiative are important.
- A willingness to understand the zero-waste system, community resource recovery sector, and the Trust’s kaupapa.
- A full clean drivers license.
It will be an advantage if you have:
- Experience working with community organisations, NGOs, or local government.
- Familiarity with outcomes measurement frameworks or performance reporting.
- Experience designing or implementing new data systems, templates, or processes.
- Understanding of Te Ao Māori and community-led approaches.
