Established in 2010, the Museum researches, documents and shares the stories of fashion in Aotearoa through exhibitions, publications and our online museum. As a virtual museum with a national reach, we preserve and make accessible stories and knowledge that contribute to New Zealand's cultural history and identity.
We are particularly seeking individuals with experience in:
· Chairing and governance leadership
· Finance and accounting
· Fundraising and sponsorship
· Digital strategy, websites and technology
· Museums, heritage, fashion or the creative sector
The Museum is largely volunteer-run, with limited contracted support, so Board members have the opportunity to make a direct and meaningful contribution beyond governance. This is an active working board that supports projects, partnerships, advocacy and organisational sustainability.
We welcome expressions of interest from people within the fashion, heritage, museum, technology, creative, communications and not-for-profit sectors. Please note the board positions are voluntary roles.
Interested individuals are invited to email board@nzfashionmuseum.org.nz with:
· A current CV
· A brief introduction outlining their interest and relevant experience
The New Zealand Fashion Museum is for anyone with a love of fashion, heritage, innovation, and creativity. With no fixed abode other than this online address, it is a museum dedicated to the curation of Aotearoa’s rich fashion past, making it relevant for the present and future.
Established in 2010 by Doris de Pont, the museum records and shares the stories of the people, objects and images that have contributed to the development of Aotearoa's unique fashion identity. It makes them visible and accessible to a broad audience through pop-up exhibitions, publications and our online museum.
