Job Description

Make a difference in your community

Are you organised, practical and passionate about helping people reach their potential? Do you enjoy building relationships, coordinating programmes and finding solutions when things don’t go to plan?

Dress for Success Wellington is looking for a positive, capable and adaptable person to cover our Programmes Manager's maternity leave for 12 months. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful programmes that help people build confidence, develop their skills and move towards employment and greater independence.

About the role

Working closely with the Executive Manager and wider team, you’ll coordinate the delivery of our programmes and services across Wellington and the Hutt Valley. These include work-readiness programmes, career coaching, mentoring, workshops and employment support.

You’ll build relationships with referral partners, including MSD, coordinate and support our programme volunteers, maintain accurate records and help ensure our services run smoothly and continue to make a meaningful difference.

This is a varied, hands-on role in a small, community-focused organisation. You’ll need to be comfortable managing competing priorities, adapting when plans change and handling the occasional curve ball with a positive, can-do attitude.

We’re looking for someone who is happy to roll up their sleeves, take initiative and get stuck in. You’ll have support from the wider team, with key reporting and organisational responsibilities shared across the organisation.

What you’ll bring

  • Experience coordinating programmes, services, workshops or community activities.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to work inclusively with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
  • Confidence working with and supporting a diverse range of volunteers, recognising that everyone brings different skills, experiences and support needs.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confidence using digital systems and everyday tools such as Microsoft 365 and Monday.com, or the ability to learn quickly.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach. You see what needs doing and get on with it.
  • The ability to work independently while knowing when to ask for support.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, dignity, inclusion and helping people achieve their aspirations.

Experience in the community, employment support, training or not-for-profit sector would be an advantage. Familiarity with MSD-funded programmes and reporting requirements would also be beneficial but not essential.

Why join us?

At Dress for Success Wellington, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive in work and life. You’ll join a passionate team and a diverse volunteer community, contributing to practical programmes that build confidence, capability and pathways to employment.

This role would suit someone with relevant coordination experience who enjoys working with people, thrives in a varied environment and wants to make a genuine difference in their community.
