Membership, Marketing and Events

Job Description

  • Help grow and engage CFA Society New Zealand’s membership
  • Deliver marketing, communications, events and day-to-day member support
  • Fully remote, ongoing contract for services | 10-30 hours per week

About the role

Love connecting people, building communities and bringing ideas to life?

CFA Society New Zealand is looking for one or two talented and motivated professionals to help deliver their membership, marketing, communications and events programmes.

This is a varied, hands-on opportunity to work with New Zealand's finance and investment community, delivering everything from engaging digital campaigns and industry events to initiatives connecting investment professionals, employers, CFA candidates and university students.

Working closely with the Executive Director and volunteer leadership team, you'll contribute ideas, take ownership of projects and help ensure the smooth running of the Society's activities, including providing operational support and back-up to the Executive Director.

They are offering an ongoing contract for services arrangement, with a total of 10-30 hours per week across the programme. These hours may be allocated to one person or shared between two people with complementary skills, depending on experience and how responsibilities are divided.

Contractors can be based anywhere in New Zealand, although a main centre location is preferred. The work is fully remote, during New Zealand business hours, with occasional attendance at in-person events by agreement. The Society is looking to build a long-term working relationship with the appointed contractor(s), providing continuity across their programmes and member relationships.

What you'll do

Depending on your strengths and experience, your responsibilities may include:

  • Marketing and communications: Develop and deliver marketing plans, targeted campaigns, newsletters, email communications, social media content and website updates that inform, engage and grow their community.
  • Events and experiences: Plan, promote and deliver their programme of conferences, industry events, networking opportunities and webinars, from speaker coordination and registrations through to venue logistics and event delivery.
  • Membership and engagement: Manage membership processes, including applications, onboarding, renewals and member enquiries, while developing initiatives that strengthen member engagement, retention and growth.
  • Outreach programmes: Work with volunteer leaders to deliver initiatives connecting the Society with universities, CFA candidates, employers and the wider investment industry.
  • Digital platforms and innovation: Manage and enhance digital marketing, events and CRM platforms, identifying opportunities to improve engagement, streamline processes and make the most of new technology.
  • Operations and administration: Support day-to-day Society operations through effective coordination, responsive communications, accurate records and well-organised systems and processes, providing reliable back-up to the Executive Director.

You'll be encouraged to bring fresh ideas, take initiative and help CFA Society NZ continually improve what they do.

What you’ll bring

They're looking for creative, digitally savvy and highly organised self-starters who enjoy variety, take initiative and know how to get things done.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in membership management, marketing, communications, event management or digital engagement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a flair for creating engaging, professional content.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong digital capability, with hands-on experience using tools relevant to your area of expertise, such as email marketing, design, CRM, event and webinar platforms, alongside Microsoft 365 and social media.
  • A proactive, resourceful and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to take ownership of responsibilities and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a professional, responsive approach to working with members, volunteers, speakers and external partners.

Experience in a membership organisation, professional association or financial services environment would be an advantage, but isn't essential.

You don’t need expertise across every area. They welcome applications from marketing and communications specialists, experienced events or membership professionals, and versatile all-rounders.
