POSITION DESCRIPTION
FUNDRAISING OFFICER
This volunteer part-time position (8 hours per week) reports to the Chair of the Marketing and Fundraising Committee and is located in Wellington. We are looking for someone with fundraising, administration and clerical skills.
Whilst the role is voluntary, if the role proves to be beneficial to the organisation the Board will consider remunerating the role.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Fundraising Officer is to help ensure the financial stability of Samaritans Wellington and maintain and grow donor support and engagement.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain and develop the fundraising application schedule and reporting to current funders
Forward planning of fundraising events and activities
Develop a strong volunteer group to carry out fundraising activities and support for the role.
Be willing to learn and grow with the coaching and mentoring of an experienced fundraising professional.

FUNDRAISING Fundraising Officer is responsible for Samaritans annual fundraising programme, including arranging the direct appeal, funding applications and proactively seeking other fundraising, donors, sponsorship and other sustainable funding sources. Key tasks include:

DONOR MANAGEMENT The Fundraising Officer is responsible for ensuring that donors are sought and actively managed. Key tasks include:

COMMUNICATIONS The Fundraising Officer is the key person who provides communications to raise the profile of Samaritans of Wellington, communicate its activities, and inform target audiences including Samaritans volunteers and staff. Key tasks include:

JOB COMPETENCIES
Administration and clerical experience
Knowledge of communications channels, including social media channels.
Strong and creative writing skills, including the ability to produce reports for the Board and reports for funders and funding applications.
Excellent verbal communication skills with confidence and experience in producing presentations.
An understanding and ideally experience of fundraising, promotional, and communications activities relevant to the not-for-profit sector.
Disciplined in self-management and organisation to manage priorities and meet deadlines.
Excellent relationship management skills.
Demonstrates initiative and strong self-motivation, and the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
An excellent team player.
Proficient with Google suite of applications, Canva, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Publisher.
HOURS OF WORK
This position involves 8 volunteer hours of work per week on average. It may require some after-hours work and work at weekends. Samaritans has a flexible work philosophy however some presence in the Wellington office would be appreciated.
MEDIA STATEMENTS
The Fundraising Officer shall not make any media statements on the work and/or views and policies of Samaritans without the specific permission of the Board Chairperson and Operations Manager. All media statements are to be approved by the Board Chairperson before release to the media.
