Job Type: Fixed-term contract (6 months), 20 - 30 hours a week
Please note that this role is a fixed-term contract aligned with our current project funding. That said, we invest in long-term development and training. We plan and train for continuity and growth, and always aim to be able to keep kaimahi on long term.
Salary range: $30 - 35 / hour, based on experience
Are you passionate about te taiao and eager to inspire people to take action on climate change? Climate Club are seeking a motivated individual to join us as a Climate Club Workshops Lead to deliver a contract in Auckland.
We’re Climate Club Aotearoa, a registered charity aiming to help people in Aotearoa understand climate change and take meaningful action to address it.
As a member of our team, you'll manage a variety of projects, including workshop contracts and other grants with a variety of audiences in Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland / nationwide. This will entail taking the initiative to reach out to various groups including community organisations, schools, business associations etc. Once they are interested, the role also entails coordinating times and facilitators; or delivering workshops yourself. You may also work to deliver other projects, such as our urban heat project or other projects as they crop up.
You'll work with a supportive, tight-knit team who care a lot about climate. You’ll be working for a cause that truly matters.
Project Management
Build out project plans, budgets, and timelines.
Manage multiple projects with various volunteers & contractors
Adapt to a changing project and landscape, keeping projects on track, escalating where deliverables at risk.
Manage project delivery within time and budget
2. Workshop Outreach:
Build ongoing relationships with schools, marae, iwi, churches and community groups, to develop interest in workshops and understand needs around climate action workshops.
Build and maintain relationships with contacts at each organisation
Communicate and inspire parties to take part in engaging workshops & activities
3. Logistics and Coordination:
Plan each workshop with community managers, staff, including coordinating facilitators appropriate venue arrangements, and bringing necessary materials
Coordinate volunteer facilitators
Manage any equipment or technology required for presentations
4. Workshop Facilitation:
Confidence talking with groups of 25 - 30 people (usually students) to help them learn about climate change and brainstorm solutions oriented to them taking action on relevant topics
Fast learner - you’ll be trained in everything you need to know about the workshop content, but over time, deliver it yourself
You’re a great fit if you:
Are passionate about climate action
Enjoy talking to people about climate change
Are curious and a quick learner
Have good organisational & administrative skills
Are able to work independently and communicate clearly on timelines
Have previous experience running events, working in education or business, facilitating workshops or climate / environmental domain knowledge is a bonus but not a must.
