What You'll Be Doing

No two days are the same. Depending on the season and project priorities, you could be:

• Controlling pest plants and pest animals
• Planting and maintaining native vegetation
• Monitoring wildlife and supporting conservation projects
• Collecting environmental data, including water quality samples
• Using and maintaining tools, equipment, and machinery
• Building and maintaining tracks and visitor facilities
• Working alongside volunteers, local community groups, and contractors
• Helping out at environmental events and community activities
• Keeping yourself and your teammates safe in the field

This is a practical, hands-on role that spends most of the time outdoors in some of Christchurch's most unique natural areas.

What We're Looking For

We're after people who are reliable, motivated, and enjoy working as part of a team.

Ideally, you'll have:

• Experience in conservation, restoration, landscaping, horticulture, pest control, or a similar outdoor field role
• Knowledge of native plants and common weed species
• Experience using herbicides and field equipment
• A current Full New Zealand Driver Licence
• A strong focus on health and safety
• Good communication skills and a positive attitude
• The fitness and resilience to work outdoors in all kinds of conditions

Bonus points if you have:

• A qualification in conservation, ecology, environmental management, or a related field
• Wildlife handling experience
• Boat or kayak experience
• Experience working with volunteers or community groups
