Position: Cleaner
Reports to: Hub Coordinator (Lote Tree Community Hub)
Location: Hillsborough Masjid / Lote Tree Community Hub, Auckland; NZICT
Hours: Approximately 8 hours of regular cleaning coverage per week, consisting of two 4-hour thorough cleans across two sites. Additional hours may be required following events, bookings or other activities.
Engagement type: Casual role with flexible hours to meet the operational needs of the organisation. Cleaning hours and responsibilities may be shared between two or more cleaners to ensure appropriate coverage.
Remuneration: $29.90 (Living Wage rate)
Cleaning duties may be shared among multiple cleaners to provide appropriate coverage for regular cleaning, events, bookings, and periods of increased activity.
Key responsibilities
Weekly (both sites):
Clean bathrooms
Clean wudhu (ablution) areas
Clean kitchens
Empty rubbish bins
Vacuum
Mop
Wipe surfaces
Clean window sills
Replenish consumables and cleaning supplies
Hillsborough Masjid / Community Hub — Friday or early Saturday (~4 hours)
NZICT — Sunday ~7:30 am, during term (~4 hours)
Ongoing:
Monitor cleaning supply levels and notify the Coordinator when to reorder
Report maintenance issues, damage or hazards to the Hub Coordinator
This list is indicative, not exhaustive. Other reasonable cleaning and presentation tasks may be required from time to time, as agreed with the Hub Coordinator.
Person specification
Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
High standard of cleanliness and strong attention to detail
Respectful and discreet working in a faith-based, community setting
Physically able to carry out cleaning tasks (on feet, bending, handling light equipment)
Own transport or a reliable means of travelling between sites
Understands basic health and safety, including safe handling of cleaning chemicals, and willing to follow site procedures
Working environment
These are active places of worship: modest dress, awareness of prayer times, and observance of shoes-off areas
The musallah is kept in a state of cleanliness for prayer — care is needed with what enters the space and how it is treated
Periodic specialist cleaning (carpet shampooing of the musallah and full window cleaning) is arranged separately by the Hub Coordinator and is not part of this role
