Job Description

Our Mission

We’re a purpose-driven not-for-profit organisation supporting survivors of sexual violence and working to end sexual violence.  We are dedicated to making a real difference in people’s lives, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our work is grounded in compassion, integrity, and accountability — values that guide every decision we make. We’re here to serve our community, and we need someone who shares our commitment to delivering excellence while keeping people at the heart of the numbers.

The Impact You'll Make!

We’re seeking an experienced Finance Manager for a 3–4 month contract to lead our month-end accounting, costing analysis, financial reporting, and payroll compliance. Ideally, you will be able to start immediately and step into a pivotal role during a busy period, ensuring our financial operations run smoothly and with precision. Your expertise will help us close each month with confidence, provide accurate, timely insights to our leadership team, and ensure our payroll processes meet the complex requirements of the Holidays Act 2003 — a critical factor in supporting our dedicated 24/7 workforce.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the end-of-month accounts process, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery.

  • Prepare costing analyses to support operational decision-making and funding applications.

  • Produce clear, insightful financial reports for the Board and senior leadership team.

  • Provide oversight of payroll processes, ensuring compliance with the Holidays Act NZ and best practice for a 24/7 rostered workforce.

  • Collaborate with managers to interpret financial data and guide resource allocation.

  • Support a small finance team, keeping priorities clear and helping day-to-day work move smoothly.

  • Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and processes for greater efficiency.

What You'll Bring

  • Proven experience in finance management, ideally within the not-for-profit or service sector.

  • Strong technical accounting skills, with a track record of delivering accurate month-end accounts and reports.

  • In-depth understanding of the Holidays Act 2003 and its application in complex, shift-based environments.

  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., Xero, MYOB, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.

  • A collaborative, solutions-focused approach and the ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.

  • High attention to detail, with the ability to work to tight deadlines.

Why You'll Love It Here

  • Be part of a mission-led organisation where your work directly supports people in need.

  • A supportive, values-driven team culture that respects work-life balance.

  • Flexible working arrangements during your contract period.

  • The satisfaction of knowing your expertise is helping keep vital community services running smoothly.

If you’re ready to bring your financial expertise to a role where it truly matters, we would love to hear from you! Send us your CV and a Cover letter, telling us about a time you improved a finance process or solved a payroll challenge.
