Earth Action Trust (EAT) is seeking an experienced Programme Lead to lead one of our flagship environmental programmes, helping Auckland’s ethnic communities become better prepared for flooding and climate change.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building partnerships, and delivering meaningful community outcomes.
You will lead the planning, delivery, evaluation, and continuous improvement of our Community Flood Resilience programme across multiple Auckland Local Board areas, working closely with ethnic communities, community organisations, volunteers and Auckland Council.
We’re looking for someone who is confident working independently, can manage multiple moving parts, and enjoys bringing people together around a shared purpose.

About the Role
The Community Flood Resilience Programme Lead is responsible for leading the end-to-end delivery of EAT’s Community Flood Resilience programme across multiple Auckland Local Board areas (Albert-Eden, Puketāpapa, Whau, Henderson-Massey). This role takes ownership of programme planning, community engagement, stakeholder relationships, volunteer leadership, reporting, and continuous programme improvement. Working closely with the Operations Lead, you’ll represent EAT across Auckland and help build stronger, more resilient communities through practical climate adaptation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Programme Leadership: Lead the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of EAT’s Community Flood Resilience programme, ensuring milestones, budgets, and project outcomes are achieved.
Community Engagement & Volunteer Development: Design and facilitate workshops, stream walks, clean-ups, and community activations while building meaningful relationships with ethnic communities and supporting a thriving volunteer network.
Stakeholder & Partnership Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with ethnic groups, community organisations, environmental partners, Auckland Council, Local Boards and mana whenua, representing EAT at meetings, forums, and networking events.
Programme Administration & Resource Development: Maintain project documentation, budgets, and reporting, while developing educational resources and identifying opportunities to strengthen and grow the programme.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can confidently lead programmes from beginning to end.
You will ideally have:
Essential
Experience leading community programmes or projects from planning through to delivery and evaluation.
Experience working in the NGO, community development, environmental or local government sector.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
Excellent relationship-building skills.
Experience working alongside migrant and refugee (ethnic) communities.
Experience influencing and leading volunteers.
Strong facilitation and community engagement skills.
Excellent written communication and reporting ability.
Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
Current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
Highly Valued
Knowledge of flood resilience, climate adaptation or environmental education.
Social media or design knowledge.
Grant writing or funding management experience.
