  • Senior Statistical & Data Technician - 1 x permanent, 1 x fixed term until December 2026
  • Statistical & Data Technician - 1 x permanent, part-time (20 hours/week)

The roles | Te tūnga

Based in our Complex Business & Processing Support Unit, the role covers a variety of topics, including financial, economic and social. As a Statistical and Data Technician you will be a ‘transformer’, because your role is to transform our data to a more useable, value-added state so it can be used in our statistical production process.  The work includes loading data, data editing, data sourcing, classification, validation, checking, shaping and confronting data. The aim of the game is to get the data one step closer to informing important decisions in Aotearoa, and your contribution ensures our data is ready to take the next step.

As a Senior Statistical & Data Technician, you will be expected to work at a higher level – undertaking more complex data validation, taking greater responsibility for the delivery of processed data, identifying improvements to our data processing processes, and coaching & mentoring other Statistical & Data Technicians.

We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • Curiosity, with a passion for troubleshooting, process improvements, and innovation
  • Experience working with financial account data or experience in an accounts area, and the ability to apply technical checking skills is desirable
  • A high level of organisational skills, ability to follow processes and carry out repetitive tasks with a high level of detail and problem solve issues as they arise
  • Demonstrated experience in working to tight deadlines, good time management skills, and ability to adapt and respond to new information
  • Experience operating data processing systems with a proven ability to quickly learn and use new software/ technologies when required
  • The ability to work well in a team environment and form effective relationships with a range of people
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and are confident in presenting your work in plain English
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and applying cultural capability in their practice

Salary:

Statistical & Data Technician - $57,403 - $63,080 + KiwiSaver

Senior - $60,148 - $70,762 + KiwiSaver
