Role description

​​As the Branch Membership and Volunteer Coordinator, you will play a key role in strengthening the branch community by welcoming new members and volunteers, supporting their engagement, and ensuring accurate and up-to-date member information. You will maintain the branch’s nominal roll, introduce newcomers to branch activities, and help foster a positive and inclusive volunteer experience. You will work closely with the New Zealand Red Cross Area Support Team to ensure all membership and volunteer data is accurately recorded and maintained in the database. 

Tasks

  • Welcome and connect with new branch members and volunteers, providing information on branch activities and volunteering opportunities.  
  • Maintain regular communication with branch members, the Branch President, and the Area Support Team to support strong collaboration and community engagement.
  • Update and maintain the branch’s nominal roll and support the accuracy of volunteer and membership records.  
  • Farewell departing members and ensure this process is handled respectfully.  
  • Nominate eligible volunteers for NZ Red Cross honours and awards.  
  • Assist in planning and delivering volunteer recognition activities and events.

 Volunteer requirements and training

  • Minimum age: 18.  
  • Training: 4–8 hours induction and leadership training.  
  • ID verification and two-character references required.  
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse volunteer base and support a welcoming team environment 

Health, safety, and wellbeing

  • Proactively ensure your actions or omissions do not adversely affect the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) of yourself or others. 
  • Participate in HSW induction, training, programmes and activities. 
  • Follow all reasonable instructions to comply with HSW legislation and regulations. 
  • Follow New Zealand Red Cross HSW policies, standards and procedures. 
  • Do not undertake any activities you are not adequately trained for. 
  • Use designated personal protective equipment (PPE) for specific work activities
