Manager Business Development and Engagement

Job Description

  • Grow membership and deepen industry engagement
  • Build relationships with leaders across the specialist lending sector
  • Join a small, high-performing team; based in Wellington CBD

About the role

The Financial Services Federation (FSF) is the voice of New Zealand's specialist lending sector. Representing more than 100 member organisations, it brings together finance providers and industry partners to advocate for the sector while supporting responsible lending that benefits New Zealand consumers and businesses.

Working closely with the Executive Director, you'll help grow the FSF's membership, engagement and influence through proactive recruitment and retention, meaningful stakeholder engagement, and the development of services that deliver real value to members.

This is a varied role where no two days are the same. You'll develop and maintain relationships with members and key stakeholders, identify opportunities for the FSF to advocate on behalf of the sector, represent the FSF at meetings and industry events, and contribute to initiatives that support member engagement, successful events and sustainable revenue growth.

Joining a small, high-performing team, you'll enjoy plenty of variety, autonomy and the opportunity to make a genuine contribution to an organisation that plays an important role within New Zealand's financial services sector.

What we’re looking for

You'll be an experienced relationship manager who enjoys building trusted partnerships and identifying opportunities to create value. Commercially aware and naturally proactive, you'll be equally comfortable engaging with senior leaders, facilitating discussions and turning ideas into action.

You'll also bring:

  • Experience in business development, membership, stakeholder engagement or relationship management
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills
  • Confidence in building relationships with senior leaders across the public and private sectors
  • The ability to identify opportunities, think strategically and deliver practical outcomes
  • Excellent planning, organisation and prioritisation skills
  • High levels of initiative, integrity and sound judgement
  • A commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work independently within a small team

Experience within a membership organisation would be an advantage, but is not essential.

Why join the FSF?

This is an opportunity to work with an experienced and respected team, build meaningful relationships across the specialist lending sector, and help grow the influence and value that the FSF delivers to its members.
