Call for Candidate Applications for 2026 Trustee Board Elections

Job Description

Our vision is "Whānau tupu ngātahi - families growing together", and Playcentre Aotearoa's Trustee Board plays a vital role in the governance of our organisation, making a positive difference to thousands of tamariki and their whānau across Aotearoa. 

Playcentre Aotearoa is seeking candidate applications for four Trustee Board positions that have become available due to rotation. Incumbent Trustees (if any) will be subject to the same selection process.  

Three of the Trustee Board positions will be for terms of 3 years, with one Trustee Board position being for a term of one year. 

Suitable candidates who meet the following criteria are invited to express an interest in becoming a Trustee: 

  • Have or have had one or more tamariki enrolled with Playcentre Aotearoa 
  • Have been an attending caregiver at a local Playcentre 
  • In the case of Te Whare Tikanga Māori, are tangata whenua 
  • Have a minimum of 2 years of governance experience outside of Playcentre 

Ideally, we are seeking candidates who can:

  • Bring a strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, co-governance and a commitment to working in partnership-based decision making.
  • Understand how a national charitable organisation, that delivers licensed services, can grow while ensuring our philosophy remains at the heart of everything we do. 
  • Demonstrate a clear commitment to strengthening and supporting communities at a local, regional and national level.

Please note, employees of Playcentre Aotearoa are not eligible to be Trustees.
