The Co-ordinator will build alliances and support campaigns on issues affecting women workers, focusing on pay equity and broader gender justice issues with an intersectional lens. Their key role will be co-ordination of the refresh of the ‘Working Women’s Charter’ alongside affiliate unions and communities.
· Lead the coordination of the Working Women’s Charter review, including managing logistics, supporting engagement with affiliates and community organisations, and building relationships that strengthen participation and collective ownership of the process.
· Lead the ongoing development and implementation of the Gender Justice Campaign Plan, including coordinating campaign activity on pay equity and other gender justice priorities in partnership with affiliates and allies.
· Coordinate the production and publication of any information resources
· Undertake other related tasks as directed by the CTU Secretary
· Internal: Secretary, President, Pay Equity Lead, Comms and Campaigns team and Operations Team as required
· External: Affiliated unions, allied organisations.
The Gender Justice Campaign Coordinator must have background in campaigning/administration in either the union movement or the women’s movement. We are looking for someone who has:
· Commitment to the values of the organisation, including an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to work in a way that supports equity, inclusion, and the wider trade union movement.
· Knowledge about the issues and background of equal pay and other issues impacting women at work.
· Demonstrated ability to work with civil society and community organisations to build broad-based support for campaigns, preferably including existing relationships across women’s, equity, and social justice networks.
· Proven organisational, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
· Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and groups.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
· A proactive approach, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
· Flexibility to support events and activities when required.
This role will be preferably based in Wellington at the CTU. Administrative support and other resources to enable the Gender Justice Coordinator to effectively carry out their work will be made available.
This role may suit a secondment arrangement. The CTU will consider appointing this role either full or part time (minimum 0.6 FTE).
