The Union Development Co-ordinator plays a key role in supporting the design and operationalisation of the Education Programme and supporting the effective operation of CTU Sector Groups and Local Affiliate Councils. This role combines strong administration, relationship management, and coordination skills to ensure high-quality delivery of training, events, and representative group activities.
· Coordinate the Training and Development Programme, including supporting the work of the Board of Studies, maintaining the annual calendar, managing EREL processes, and promoting courses across relevant platforms.
· Managing logistics for all courses including booking venues and catering, monitoring registrations (and invoicing), coordinating travel and accommodation for facilitators and liaising with facilitators.
· Ensuring all event requirements are met including the preparation and distribution of course materials and resources.
· Managing post‑course processes, including confirming completion, collating evaluation feedback, preparing evaluation summaries and reports, and recording cost information.
· Supporting the effective operation of CTU Sector Groups, including the Women’s Council, Out at Work, Komiti Pasefika, Stand Up, Ngā Manu Kanorau, and Kaimahi Whaikaha.
· Providing administrative and logistical support to Sector Groups, including coordinating meetings, and ensuring accurate record‑keeping.
· Supporting the development of Sector Group workplans and activities and assisting with the organisation and delivery of biennial conferences.
· Acting as a liaison between Sector Groups and Local Affiliate Councils, and CTU officers and staff as needed.
· Providing general operational support across the organisation as required.
· Internal: Secretary, President, Operations and Finance Manager, Operations Coordinator and Executive Assistant/Admin.
· External: CTU Board of Studies, The Local Affiliate Councils and Sector Groups, affiliated unions, allied organisations, and suppliers.
· Commitment to the values of the organisation, including an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to work in a way that supports equity, inclusion, and the wider trade union movement.
· Proven organisational, planning, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
· Experience coordinating meetings, training programmes, events, or similar logistics-heavy activities.
· Strong relationship management skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of people and groups.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail.
· Confidence using Microsoft 365, online meeting platforms, and electronic filing systems, along with the ability to quickly learn new systems such as Xero.
· A proactive approach, sound judgement, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
· Flexibility to support events and activities when required.
