Position Title - Gate Pa Community Centre Manager (Part-Time)
Location- Gate Pa Community Centre, 13-15 Anzac Road, Gate Pa. Tauranga.
Employment Type - Part-Time (starting 20–25 hours per week moving into fulltime subject to funding, based at the Gate Pa Community Centre).
Reports To - Board of Trustees – Gate Pa Community Centre Trust
The Community Centre Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations, administration, booking systems, community engagement activities, relationship building and overseeing of the newly built Gate Pa Community Centre located at the 13-15 Anzac Road, Tauranga. Bay of Plenty. The role supports the Trust’s vision of creating an inclusive, welcoming, and well-managed community space that responds to the needs of local residents, groups, and stakeholders.
The Manager will oversee centre bookings, facilities coordination, community relationships, financial administration, and support for programmes and events.
Manage the daily operation of the community centre.
Achieve maximum usage of the facility.
Coordinate hosting the visitors, guests, co-workers of agencies, volunteers and social agencies.
Coordinate venue bookings, room hire enquiries, and scheduling.
Ensure the centre is clean, safe, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and maintenance providers regarding repairs and upkeep.
Recruit and coordinate with volunteers.
Monitor security, access, and facility usage.
Donations of goods - coordination, access and distribution.
Build positive relationships with community groups, volunteers, service providers, schools, stakeholders, agencies and local organisations.
Support and encourage community-led activities and programmes.
Promote the centre and its services through social media, newsletters, and community networks.
Respond professionally to public enquiries and feedback.
Maintain accurate records, booking systems, and operational documentation.
Develop an annual plan and budget for board approval
Assist with budgeting, invoicing, payments, and financial reporting.
Support funding applications, reporting requirements, and grant administration where required.
Prepare operational reports for the Trust Board.
Coordinate board meetings and support the board administration duties.
Encourage events run by local community organisations.
Support with event and program logistics as appropriate.
Coordinate logistics for community events, workshops, and programmes.
Support volunteers and casual staff involved in centre activities.
Assist with planning initiatives that increase community participation and centre utilisation.
Attend Trust meetings as required.
Work collaboratively with Trustees to implement strategic goals and operational priorities.
Ensure operations align with Trust policies and procedures.
Experience in community facility management, administration, operations, or a similar role.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Financial administration and reporting experience preferred.
Competency in Ms Office, google drive, email systems, and social media platforms.
Understanding of health and safety responsibilities in community settings.
Experience working with diverse communities and volunteers is desirable.
