Who is BioOra? 
BioOra is proud to be New Zealand's first Chimeric Antigen Receptor CAR T-cell manufacturing company. At the forefront of cell therapy innovation, we are currently manufacturing for a Phase II clinical trial and advancing toward large-scale commercial production. Our goal is to revolutionise cancer immunotherapy by automating and scaling the production of CAR T-cells, to deliver this life-saving technology at a fraction of standard costs and time.  
 
What will you do? 
BioOra is in a stage of rapid growth. We need to ensure our finance systems are adapted for a team that is scaling very quickly and kept at a high standard. The Assistant Accountant will play a critical role in developing our in-house finance function, managing the core transactional accounting activities as well as supporting all other areas of accounting. You will also provide key support on updating and setting up systems and processes to ensure they are fit-for-purpose. On a day-to-day basis, you will: 
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements 
  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end close processes   
  • Assist with financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis  
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely and accurate transactions  
  • Prepare and file taxes, support records, and liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance 
What do you bring to the role?  
As part of a small team in an organisation in a phase of rapid growth, you will bring some real-world experience in accounting, a relevant degree and your willingness to pitch in and do any and all finance-related duties. This is an environment of continued growth, so we are looking for someone keen to rapidly grow skills across a broad range of accounting tasks, while still maintaining critical support in areas such as AP and AR. You will have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical ability, and a strong focus on continuous improvement. You'll also have: 
  • A relevant degree in Finance, Accounting or something similar and working towards a CA, or CPA 
  • Experience in accounting and month-end reporting   
  • Strong understanding of the NZ tax environment 
  • Excellent technical ability, with intermediate to advanced Excel skills 
  • Experience in Xero, or similar programmes 
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, and problem-solving
