Digital Fundraising Specialist

Job Description

Make a meaningful impact through digital fundraising

Hospital Chaplaincy Aotearoa is seeking a Digital Fundraising Specialist to help grow our fundraising income and supporter engagement through digital channels.

This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of a developing digital fundraising programme and help shape how we connect with supporters online. You’ll work closely with the Fundraising & Partnerships Manager (currently the sole fundraiser) to deliver campaigns, grow digital acquisition, and build the foundations for long-term growth.

If you enjoy a hands-on role where you can test, learn, and make a tangible difference, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

As our Digital Fundraising Specialist, you will lead the delivery of digital fundraising activity across channels including email, social media, website, and paid campaigns.

Digital fundraising is still an emerging area for the organisation, so there is significant opportunity to build capability, improve performance, and try new approaches.

You’ll manage day-to-day campaign delivery, optimise supporter journeys, and work with an external digital agency to deliver paid activity—while gradually building internal knowledge over time.

Key responsibilities

· Plan and deliver digital fundraising campaigns and appeals

· Manage and grow social media channels (organic and paid in collaboration with agency)

· Deliver engaging email (eDM) campaigns and supporter communications

· Develop onboarding journeys for new supporters and donors

· Maintain and optimise website fundraising pages and donation journeys

· Create compelling digital content for campaigns and appeals

· Work with an external agency on paid digital campaigns (Google & Meta)

· Monitor and manage digital fundraising budgets and performance

· Use data and insights to improve engagement, conversion, and ROI

· Contribute to the development of digital fundraising strategy and growth

About you

You’ll be a proactive and adaptable digital professional who enjoys working across a variety of activities and is motivated by making an impact.

You will bring:

· Experience in digital fundraising, or a related field

· Strong skills in email marketing, social media, and website content management

· Ability to create engaging content and campaigns

· Confidence working with data and reporting on performance

· Excellent organisation and time management skills

Desirable:

· Experience in the not-for-profit sector

· Familiarity with paid digital channels (Google Ads, Meta Ads)

· Understanding of UX, SEO, or conversion optimisation

· Experience with CRM or marketing platforms

Key attributes

· A self-starter who takes initiative and ownership

· Creative, curious, and willing to test and learn

· Strong attention to detail and delivery

· A collaborative team player

· Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team with a hands-on and flexible approach

Why join us?

· Opportunity to build and shape digital fundraising from the ground up

· Broad, varied role with real ownership and impact

· Work closely with decision-makers and influence direction

· Contribute to meaningful work supporting people in hospitals across Aotearoa
