Job Description

Musicwell is a new Wellington-based charitable trust being established to advance health and wellbeing through music therapy and community music practice. Our work is open to everyone, with particular focus on people with disabilities, children and young people, women, and people experiencing vulnerability, disadvantage, or marginalisation.

We are looking for two founding trustees.

Trustee 1 — Treasurer Someone with financial or accounting experience to oversee financial management, reporting, and accountability to funders. You don't need to know anything about music therapy — you need to care about the mission and be rigorous with numbers.

What we are looking for:

  • A chartered accountant, bookkeeper, or finance professional
  • Experience managing finances for a small organisation or community group
  • Comfortable with budgets, financial reporting, and annual returns

Trustee 2 — Sector Connector Someone with connections in the disability sector, health, education, or creative arts who can advise on funding strategy and keep Musicwell grounded in the communities it serves.

What we are looking for:

  • Connections in the disability sector, health system, schools, or creative arts community
  • Knowledge of the funding landscape
  • Someone who has run or governed another community organisation
  • Lived experience of disability, or deep relationships with disabled communities

About Musicwell Musicwell is founded by a registered music therapist with 14 years of experience in mental health and disability. We are in the process of finalising our trust deed and registering with Charities Services.
