Job Description

Wanted - someone who:

·         Brings knowledge of te reo Māori and tikanga Māori to a level where they are well accepted by iwi and hapū — fluency in te reo preferred

·         Has existing networks with mana whenua and taura here, and a track record of meaningful community engagement

·         Can cover both the relational and the technical aspects: from building trust with Māori communities to assessing applications and writing funding recommendations.

Wellington Community Fund (WCF) is a grantmaker investing just over $2 million each year in not-for-profit organisations across the Wellington region — from Ōtaki and the Kāpiti Coast to Porirua, Wellington, and the Hutt Valley. Governed by a Board of Trustees and guided by a clear set of values, we contribute to thriving communities now and for generations to come.

As Kaitakawaenga Māori, you'll manage He Rau Aroha — WCF's fund for mana whenua and taura here to advance Māori aspirations. You'll work closely with Te Ohu Manaaki, a Board committee comprising trustees with Māori whakapapa. You'll provide secretariat support, advice and implement its decisions. Alongside this you'll contribute to WCF's broader grants work and strategic thinking, and collaborate with other grantmakers also funding Māori aspirations.

This is a role with real variety. You'll need solid digital literacy and be happy to undertake a level of administration as part of running the granting process. You’ll have good written communication skills, and a full driver's licence for getting out into the community.

You'll join a small, collegial team working from our Lambton Quay office, with two days in the office and flexibility beyond that. A full driver's licence and access to a car are required for travel to hui.

This is a 0.8FTE role.
