Starting salary: $119,795.00 - $136,707.00 + kiwisaver

The role | Te tūnga  

This is a permanent senior, organisation-wide role where you will lead the design and delivery of advanced analytical and statistical solutions across the data lifecycle. You will provide expert advice, shape best practice, and help lift capability across Stats NZ and the wider data system.

In this role you will:

  • Design innovative methods, models, frameworks and tools
  • Provide trusted, expert advice to a wide range of stakeholders
  • Translate complex technical concepts for different audiences
  • Lead and influence thinking on future trends and analytical approaches
  • Support quality standards and best practice across data and statistics work
  • Coach, mentor and grow capability across teams

This role would suit someone who can bring:

  • A relevant postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience using tools such as R or other analytical platforms
  • An understanding of government systems or public sector work (desirable)
  • A willingness to build cultural capability and support Te Tiriti o Waitangi in your work
  • Demonstrate a willingness to upskill and increase your cultural capability
