About the role

New Zealand Red Cross is part of the world’s largest humanitarian network, supporting people in times of need and helping communities build resilience across Aotearoa.

They are now seeking a Trusts and Foundations Advisor to build on existing success and elevate this income stream to the next level. With significant opportunity for growth, this is a chance to shape strategy, strengthen relationships, and drive increased revenue that directly supports humanitarian impact.

This is a meaningful and varied fundraising role where you’ll combine compelling storytelling with commercial thinking to secure funding for programmes that make a real difference across New Zealand.

Wellington is preferred, however candidates based in Christchurch will also be considered.

 

What you’ll do

  • Lead and grow trusts and foundations income nationally
  • Prepare compelling grant applications, proposals, and cases for support
  • Build strong relationships with existing and prospective funders
  • Identify new opportunities, develop and maintain a healthy funding pipeline
  • Deliver high-quality reporting and stewardship to current supporters
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to gather impact stories, data, and priorities
  • Help refine systems, planning, and best-practice grant management processes

 

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in trusts, foundations, grants, philanthropy, or fundraising
  • A track record of growing revenue or developing new opportunities
  • Exceptional written communication and proposal writing skills
  • Strong storytelling ability, with experience translating impact into compelling funding narratives
  • Strong relationship management skills and stakeholder confidence
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and deadline management
  • Commercially minded, proactive, and motivated by results
  • Passion for social impact and making a difference in communities
