We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Management Accountant to join our dynamic finance team as the organisation embarks on an exciting transformation of how it operates. As our organisation evolves, we need a forward-thinking professional who can adapt quickly, provide insightful financial analysis, and support key decision-making through this transformation. This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping the future of our organisation, driving financial efficiency, and providing valuable financial insights to support strategic decision-making.

Reporting to the Deputy CFO, you will provide support to your business groups working closely with the Finance Business Partner and in partnership with the wider Prioritisation, Resources and Delivery Group.

There are several key accountabilities in this role, including:

  • Building relationships and a deep understanding of the portfolio to deliver trusted, valued, forward-looking and proactive financial advice
  • Providing quality management advice, budgeting and forecasting support to managers
  • Translating business plans into financial plans and delivering high quality, valued analysis and sound advice
  • Understanding the cost of delivering products and services and performing detailed analysis on options, including long term impacts to the business
  • Providing support for detailed costings and analysis for strategic planning, Budget Bids, Cabinet papers and business cases
  • Undertaking analysis that identifies key risks and opportunities
  • Contributing to the provision of advice on technical accounting issues including Public Finance Act

This role would suit someone who can bring:

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or Business
  • CAANZ Chartered Accountant qualification (or equivalent) preferred
  • Proven experience in business facing senior management accounting roles
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills and the ability to articulate complex messages clearly, simply and concisely
  • Strong attention to detail in delivering financial analysis
  • The ability to build relationships and manage diverse stakeholder interests, and to confidently engage with a wide range of individuals and groups
  • Exposure to financial modelling and complex financial analysis
  • An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a willingness to learn and grow in Te Ao Māori.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in or outside of work.

Starting salary: $100,704 - $120,000 + KiwiSaver
