Starting salary: $97,270.00 - $114,436.00 + superannuation

The role | Te tūnga  

The role is a permanent role based in Whanganui-a-tara reporting to the Senior Manager - Māori Partnerships and Engagement.  

As Senior Advisor - Māori Partnerships & Engagement, you will provide high‑quality strategic and operational advice that supports the delivery of the Māori Partnerships and Engagement work programme. You’ll play an enabling role across the team coordinating workstreams, monitoring delivery, and leading the planning and delivery of engagement activities and events such as relationship agreement signings, workshops and wānanga.  

You’ll work closely with Māori, iwi and hapū partners, as well as internal stakeholders, to ensure engagement is well‑planned, mana‑enhancing, and delivers meaningful outcomes.

This role would suit someone who can show: 

• Experience coordinating work programmes or projects, including managing interdependencies and tracking delivery 
• Strong planning and organisation skills, with excellent attention to detail 
• Experience leading or coordinating engagement activities and events involving multiple stakeholders 
• Examples of working with Māori, iwi, hapū and other Tiriti partners 
• Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, including drafting briefings and reports for senior audiences 
• Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in a public service context 
• A willingness to continue building cultural capability, including te reo Māori, tikanga and te ao Māori 
• Understanding of the machinery of government and public sector processes
