This is an exciting time to join Stats NZ, with major work underway such as the modernisation of the census and the growing use of new data sources and technologies.
In the role, you will report to the Principal Privacy Advisor and be part of a small, high impact privacy team. The role works closely with specialist functions across Stats NZ, including Information Management, Data Ethics, Security, Māori Partnership, and the AI Triage teams, as well as with a wide range of business teams across the organisation who collect, use, access, and share data.
Privacy is central to Stats NZ’s role as New Zealand’s official data agency. It helps build and maintain public trust in how information is collected, protected, and used to improve lives today and for generations to come.
As the organisation continues to evolve, this role will also adapt, offering opportunities to influence and strengthen privacy practice across Stats NZ.

Salary range: $107,570 – $131,601 + Kiwisaver
