**About Chatty Café NZ**

Chatty Café New Zealand is a new nationwide initiative led by GrandFriends NZ, designed to reduce loneliness and strengthen community connection.

Participating cafés host designated “Chatty Tables” - welcoming spaces where people can sit, chat, and connect. What makes Chatty Café NZ unique is the presence of friendly volunteers who help spark conversation and create a warm, inclusive environment for everyone who joins.

With proven success in the UK and Australia, Chatty Café is now launching in New Zealand.

**About the Role**

We are seeking friendly, community-minded volunteers to express their interest in becoming Chatty Café Hosts ahead of our national launch.

As a Chatty Café volunteer, you will:

• Welcome people to the Chatty Table
• Help initiate and guide light, inclusive conversations
• Create a safe and friendly environment for all attendees
• Encourage connection between people who may not otherwise meet
• Represent the values of kindness, inclusion, and community

Who We’re Looking For

You don’t need any formal experience — just the right attitude.

**We’re looking for people who:**

• Are warm, approachable, and enjoy talking to others
• Have good listening skills and empathy
• Are reliable and community-focused
• Can create a welcoming and inclusive space
• Are comfortable chatting with people of all ages and backgrounds

This is a volunteer (unpaid) role
Training and onboarding will be provided prior to launch
