Job Description

  • Supports Tāngata Whai Ora using compassionate, peer‑led support based on lived experience of mental distress and/or addiction.
  • Provides emotional support, companionship, and validation during times of acute distress
  • Promotes dignity, self‑determination, and recovery
  • Based mainly in the Wellington Hospital Emergency Department, with work across Kites Trust clinical and community settings
  • Builds quick, respectful rapport while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Works alongside clinical staff and contributes to growing peer‑led services in acute care
  • Takes part in supervision, training, service development, and required administration
