Ngāti Manuhiri Settlement Trust (NMST) is a kaupapa Māori organisation dedicated to delivering outcomes for the iwi through governance, environmental stewardship, cultural revitalisation, and economic development. Guided by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and grounded in manaakitanga and kaitiakitanga, they work to strengthen relationships with whānau, hapū, and the wider community.

The purpose of the Ngāti Manuhiri Settlement Trust is to receive, administer, manage, protect and govern the Trust’s assets to ensure the cultural, commercial and social development of Ngāti Manuhiri for the benefit of its members.

Kaiārahi Taiao | Operations Lead - Environment - Reference - NM105

The Kaiārahi Taiao will oversee land-based environmental management and conservation efforts, leading projects that restore and protect Ngāti Manuhiri’s natural resources.

Key Responsibilities and skills/experience required:

  • · Develop and manage environmental conservation and restoration projects.
  • Lead environmental compliance and resource management initiatives.
  • Work with iwi, hapū, and government agencies to advance environmental stewardship.
  • Oversee environmental monitoring, policy development, and regulatory engagement.
  • Champion the integration of te ao Māori in environmental practices.
  • Experience in land conservation, environmental policy, or planning is advantageous.
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Office suite, along with proficiency in project management and environmental monitoring systems (e.g., GIS or similar).
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, and some understanding te reo me ōna tikanga.

  • Ability to take initiative and a proactive approach to tasks and projects. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently, and in collaboration as a team member.
