Support Advisor (part time) - Wellington Returned and Services Association
What you will do
As the Local Support Advisor of the Wellington RSA (WRSA) you will be responsible for providing welfare services to veterans and their whanau. You will handle each query or approach with sensitivity, respect, patience and understanding ensuring that every person is given the best possible service.
As part of your role you will undertake needs assessments and work closely with service providers, such as Royal New Zealand Returned and Services National Office, New Zealand Veterans Affairs, MSD and ACC.
What we need
This is a part time role of 20 hrs a week, which will suit someone who enjoys the flexibility of working from the WRSA office (Wellington CBD), from home and visiting people in their homes, hospital or rest homes. The Local Support Advisor must have a valid car licence and own a vehicle. You must have initiative, be discreet, good at making considered judgements and display sound judgement. The role also requires the setting of and oversight of the fortnightly work plan issued to the WRSA Visitor (also a WRSA part time employee)
You will have a recognised qualification in community social work, physical or mental health or extensive experience in delivering community welfare services. Ideally you will have either a social work and/or military background and will be knowledgeable on the range of support services that is provided by the New Zealand Returned and Services Association.
You will possess very good communication skills and can easily build trust and maintain effective working relationships across an organisation. As a motivated and proactive person you are able to manage your work autonomously while engaging with the WRSA executive, the District Support Manager and the other Wellington region branch’s Local Support Advisors. You will possess leadership skills to supervise and coordinate the work of our Volunteer Support Workers.

The Wellington RSA is managed by an executive committee that is linked to the national body through our shared vision and values. Wellington RSA’s geographic area covers the Wellington CBD and inner city suburbs, from Johnsonville in the North to Miramar in the South.
