
About the Role
Established in June 1848 by Pope Pius IX, the Archdiocese of Wellington (ADW) office supports the mission of the Catholic Church, with a particular focus on the role of the Archbishop of Wellington. The Archdiocese covers 23 parishes and 40 Catholic schools across Central New Zealand, stretching from Levin and Masterton in the north to the southern boundaries of Kaikoura and Westport. Archbishop Paul Martin SM is the current Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Wellington.
Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will be responsible for providing high-level finance or accounts administration and support, ensuring that payments (accounts payable) are managed accurately and promptly. The role will also involve data and systems analysis, documentation, preparing reconciliations and project-related work, contributing to systems and process improvement.

This is an initial 12-month fixed-term contract, offering 30 hours across 4 days per week, with the potential for the contract to be extended. This is an office-based role, offering a salary of up to $65,000 per annum (pro-rated) depending on experience, along with flexible working arrangements so you can choose your hours and balance work with life.
This role is ideal for someone working towards a degree in finance or accounting who is looking to gain hands-on experience. Alternatively, it’s also suitable for someone with proven finance or accounting experience seeking a part-time, flexible position where they can contribute positively to the organisation while engaging in meaningful work.
