You’ll join our Campaigns Team, the creative engine behind Aotearoa’s major annual mental health promotion campaigns, including Pink Shirt Day, Mental Health Awareness Week and The Push‑Up Challenge. We’re a collaborative, passionate team working together to deliver impactful, engaging campaigns that support the wellbeing of people across Aotearoa.
The Role
As our Senior Marketing Specialist, you’ll support the development and delivery of powerful, audience‑centered campaigns. You’ll work across digital, creative, fundraising, community and marketing channels to bring these campaigns to life.
This role sits within the Public Engagement team and reports to the Campaigns Manager. There are no direct reports.
What you will do
You will play a key role in delivering MHF’s flagship mental health promotion campaigns.
In this role, you will:
- Lead campaign marketing strategy for Pink Shirt Day, Mental Health Awareness Week and The Push‑Up Challenge.
- Drive digital marketing activity, working with internal teams and agencies to deliver high‑performing digital campaigns.
- Craft clear, compelling messaging that aligns with MHF’s brand and connects with diverse audiences.
- Develop campaign resources and creative assets with designers and content producers.
- Coordinate media buying and placement to ensure campaigns reach the right people at the right time.
- Build strong relationships with partners and communities, ensuring campaigns reflect their needs and perspectives.
- Evaluate campaign performance, using insights to strengthen future work.
You will have

You’ll bring:
- Several years’ experience in marketing and/or communications
- Experience developing and delivering marketing strategies
- Strong copywriting and content development skills
- Confidence interpreting data and using insights
- Strong project‑management experience
- Ability to collaborate well across teams and agencies
- Existing knowledge of or willingness to grow understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori
Desirable:
- Experience in social marketing, NGOs or public sector
- Previous experience in an ad agency
- Understanding of public/population health approaches

Salary band: $85,000 - $95,000 and will be commensurate with the successful candidate's skills and experience.
