Youth Ministry, Formation and Charism Lead

Challenge 2000 is a Gospel-based, Youth and Community development agency that has served young people, their families and diverse communities for 38 years. We are committed to the values of personal dignity, social justice and social responsibility for all. We believe that “Love works”.

We are seeking a competent, visionary, passionate and versatile leader to lead our Youth Ministry team, facilitate the Challenge Marist Internship-Gap Year project and develop our community volunteers that support our wide range of services for children, young people, families and communities.

Applicants must have :

Strong commitment to the Gospel mission, values, and charism of Challenge 2000.

Understanding of and lived commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Tertiary qualification in theology, education, spirituality, or social sciences.

Proven success in youth ministry and formation roles.

Ability to work effectively in bicultural and multicultural contexts.

Deep empathy and understanding of social issues impacting youth and young adults.

Familiarity with Catholic spirituality and social teaching, and experience delivering faith-based programmes.

Understands safeguarding and child protection policies.

Strong communication (written and verbal), collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.

Coaching, mentoring, and organisational abilities

Foster a healthy and inclusive team culture.

Knowledge of and alignment with the Society of Mary’s mission and charism.

Flexibility regarding work hours and willingness to travel.

Full driver’s licence.
