PURPOSE OF THE POSITION / TE TAKE O TE TŪRANGA
The purpose of this position is to advance the mission of the Salvation Army in Tawa through ministry with rangatahi aged 13-21. The priorities of the position include:
− Working to see rangatahi making decisions to follow Jesus and growing in their discipleship journey.
− Developing intentional, supportive relationships with rangatahi that foster belonging and encourage growth and development.
− Overseeing and leading programmes for rangatahi that outwork the Salvation Army community’s mission and Next Gen strategy.
− Advocating for the prioritisation of Next Gen in partnership with Salvation Army community’s leadership.
− Building intentional connection between the rangatahi and the wider Salvation Army community.
Functional relationships/Hononga Mahi
Corps Officers/ Centre Directors, Leadership Team, Pastoral Care Council, wider Salvation Army Community including staff and volunteers, National Next Gen Team, Community Organisations including schools.
REQUIRED FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS/ME WHAI TOHU
− A NZQA Level 5 qualification in a relevant field and two years ministry experience is required
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES & ATTRIBUTES/ME WHAI PŪKENGA
− A strong personal relationship with Jesus Christ
− A Salvation Army Soldier is preferred for this ministry position
− Is passionate about working with young people
− Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand
− Has personal integrity
− Supports the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
− Displays a commitment to continued development and learning in next gen ministry
Ideally, they would also have, or be working towards, the following competencies and attributes:
− Displays ability to learn and take instruction
− Good time management skills
− A clean full driving licence
− Good cross-cultural understanding
− Written and oral communication skills
− Computer competency in the Microsoft Office Suite
