About the Opportunity
Earth Action Trust is seeking two committed volunteers to support a community-led flood resilience and climate adaptation programme delivering across Central and West Auckland (part of Auckland Council Healthy Waters initiatives). This volunteer position runs from March to December 2026 and offers hands-on, field-based experience in community engagement, workshops, and public-facing activities focused on flood risk awareness and resilience building.
Key Responsibilities
· Support community pop-ups, markets, and public events
· Assist with delivering workshops and events (creek walks, treasure hunts, and storytelling sessions)
· Support public speaking and facilitation during events
· Support event preparation, set-up, and pack-down
· Collect community insights and feedback
· Support basic administration and communications (e.g. use of Microsoft suites and Canva)
Essential Skills & Experience
· Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with the public
· Prior experience supporting or conducting workshops
· Public speaking experience or strong willingness to speak in front of groups
· Bachelor’s degree (completed or in progress) in:
- Disaster Management (preferred)
- Resilience Building
- Climate Change
- Environmental Studies or a related field
· Experience or strong interest in community resilience or climate adaptation
· Experience using Microsoft Suite such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint and knowledge of Canva
· Knowledge of diverse ethnic backgrounds a bonus

Time Commitment
· Approximately 10 hours per week
