Belong Aotearoa is a non-profit organisation working to address the systemic barriers to belonging experienced by refugee-background and migrant communities in Aotearoa.
Belong Aotearoa has been working alongside communities and collaborating with others in Tāmaki Makaurau and across Aotearoa for two decades to help raise awareness, create and implement solutions, and drive transformative change that is sustainable, addressing those prevalent barriers upstream and downstream.
As two valued long-serving trustees complete their terms on the Board of Belong Aotearoa, we are inviting expressions of interest from individuals interested in contributing to our next chapter.
About you:
We are seeking Board members who bring:
Board members must be committed to acting in the best interests of the organisation, exercising sound judgement, and contributing actively through meeting attendance, committee participation, and strategic relationship-building.
Sector knowledge, lived experience, and a demonstrated ability to navigate complex relationships in migrant and refugee and/or social justice spaces would be highly advantageous.
We particularly welcome applications from Tauiwi Global Majority and Tāngata Whenua.
Belong Aotearoa is Tāmaki Makaurau-based with a national impact, but we welcome applications from across the motu.
Time commitment is about 8 hours per month including Board, committees, reading and preparation. We strongly encourage Board members to keep up to date with Belong’s work via our regular e-newsletter and attendance at community events. Please note this is a voluntary Board position; we do reimburse out-of-Auckland travel costs.
