Part-time (permanent) – 25-30 hours per week

Wellington Sexual Abuse HELP Foundation (HELP) supports individuals, whānau and communities impacted by sexual violence in Wellington, Porirua and the Kāpiti Coast.

Sexual harm can happen to anybody in our community. HELP offers support to anyone who has encountered sexual abuse or assault. We recognise that sexual violence does not only impact an individual in isolation, so we extend support to friends and whānau.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Crisis Support Worker to provide frontline crisis support to survivors of sexual harm, alongside day-to-day leadership and coordination of our crisis response service.

This role combines direct client support with oversight of day-to-day team requirements, including rostering, coordination of after-hours and on-call crisis responses, and active engagement with key external partners such as New Zealand Police and medical services involved in sexual harm response.  Work will be based at HELP but required to travel to a range of places in the greater Wellington region as required by Police, SAATS, and clients.

About the role:

  • Providing immediate, survivor-centred crisis support to clients following disclosure or reporting of sexual harm
  • Supporting clients through police reporting, medical response and referral pathways
  • Coordinating and overseeing crisis response coverage, Team communications, including staff rosters and on-call schedules
  • Participating in and supporting after-hours and on-call crisis responses as required
  • Leading Team meetings and providing guidance and support for other Crisis workers
  • Liaising and maintaining effective working relationships with NZ Police, emergency departments, forensic/SANE services and other crisis response partners
  • Ensuring trauma-informed, culturally responsive and safeguarding-focused practice
  • Maintaining accurate client records and documentation in line with MSD, ACC and internal reporting requirements

 

  • Escalating risk, safety or practice concerns in accordance with organisational policy

About you:

  • Significant experience in crisis support, sexual harm services, family violence or a related sector
  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed, survivor-centred and culturally safe practice
  • Confident in Office 365, Teams and working with a predominantly remote team.
  • Proven ability to provide leadership, coordination and decision-making in high-pressure environments
  • Confidence working within after-hours and on-call service models
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with Police and medical professionals
  • Relevant qualification in social services, support work or a related field (preferred)
