Job Description

You’ll head out on the food rescue runs alongside one of our drivers, helping collect surplus food from our donors and bring it back to the Fair Food Hub. The Volunteer Driver Assistant supports Fair Food’s operations to ensure surplus, fit-to-eat food is collected, sorted, and distributed safely and efficiently.

Time: Monday - Friday 5:30am – 12:00pm

You don’t need to commit to every shift of the week. 

Tasks include:

  • Riding along on scheduled collection routes

  • Helping load food into the van at supermarket stores

  • Checking food is packed safely and securely

  • Being a friendly face to our food donors

 

This role is great for people who:

  • Like being out and about 

  • Are physically capable of lifting crates (up to ~15kg)

  • Are reliable and happy to start early

  • Want to see the food rescue process in action
