We are looking for a new regional activator to join our Social Change Collective (SCC) Committee in Auckland!

SCC is a platform that connects young people to action social and environmental change.

We run bi-monthly events on a range of social and environmental issues that attract around 50-70 attendees. After each event, we encourage people to take action in their local community by promoting volunteering opportunities, governance positions and engagement platforms e.g. writing submissions or signing petitions. We have Committees based in Wellington and Auckland, that are responsible for planning and running our events. We are an organisation of young people, for young people, and are looking for new members to join our Auckland Committee as regional activators.

The regional activators are responsible for organising one or two events each year on a social or environmental issue of their choice. This usually involves around two months of preparation followed by one month of follow-through on the monitoring of actions. The Regional Activator will have a buddy and regional committee to assist them. We are particularly interested in applicants in the 20 – 30 age bracket.

Key duties:

  • Lead the organisation of at least one event annually
  • Support the organisation of other events
  • Attend fortnightly in-person committee catch ups
  • Attend and help out with events (bi-monthly)
  • Promote the work of the SCC
  • Engage with your networks to expand our audiences
  • Promote a tikanga Māori perspective through your event and/or role

As a regional activator, you will get the opportunity to:

  • Lead and support the organisation of events that you are passionate about, alongside a great team of like-minded young people
  • Be a part of a social change movement aiming to improve social and environmental outcomes and equity in decision making in Aotearoa
  • Have the opportunity to drive and influence the strategy and kaupapa of SCC
  • Make connections with a network of like-minded people, charities, and organisations working towards social and environmental change
  • Have access to resources, training, and professional development opportunities on governance and being a board member
