Kai 4 Communities (K4C) is a volunteer-run registered charity working in the food rescue and community development space.
K4C's vision is for healthy, connected and vibrant communities and caring for the environment. Our purpose is to share resources, skills and knowledge to foster a resilience community that cares for all, through a kaupapa of manaakitanga (kindness to others, uplifting all people with an ethic of care), whanaungatanga (building relationships and community connections), and kaitiakitanga (caring for the earth and valuing food resources).
K4C operates out of a purpose-built facility situated in the grounds of Bayswater School. From the Kaitahi Hub, K4C volunteers make monthly free community dinners from rescued food. The dinners are hosted at Bayswater School, bringing our diverse community together to share a meal made from rescued food. K4C also collaborates with the school and the wider community on projects including emergency food support, kitchen gardens, food waste composting hub, and an art project.
