At Litmaps, we’re on a mission to accelerate scientific discovery, and we’re looking for an excellent Senior Backend Engineer. This is a senior role for an experienced technical specialist who will enjoy the challenge and the responsibility of leading the backend development and support. You’ll design, build, and test APIs for the Litmaps API Service and other server-side services. You will work closely with other team members to design and implement database schemas and algorithms. You will build and maintain processes and secure practices, supported by thorough documentation. You’ll be an integral part of our team with a lot of autonomy in decision-making.
If you’re strategic, hands-on, love autonomy, and thrive in a space where creativity meets collaboration, we’d love to hear from you. We consider candidates as applications come in so please apply as soon as possible.
Let’s build something that champions good science!
Think you’d be a good fit for the role and our team? Would you like to use your skills to accelerate scientific progress? Is a small and tight startup team attractive to you? If so, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply here through the app, share your CV, and tell us about awesome projects you’ve worked on and tough problems you’ve cracked in a cover letter. We don’t use any automated systems in screening and value human voice, so feel free to be candid and casual in your application.
At Litmaps we are always looking to hire the best talent and recognise that diversity in our experiences and backgrounds is what makes us stronger. To reduce unconscious bias in our recruitment we will redact names, gender, and age and ethnicity-related information in the first round of selection before the interview. To help us do that, please do not follow up on your applications directly with the leadership team. If you need to speak to someone, please email alsu@litmaps.com.
At Litmaps we believe science and engineering are our best bets for creating better outcomes for the world, so our mission is to accelerate progress towards scientific breakthroughs and new technologies.
To do this we build modern research platforms (Litmaps and ResearchRabbit) that are intuitive, concise, collaborative, and promote the accessibility of knowledge. We focus on visualisation and search tools to help scientists and researchers in their discovery of literature.
Millions of new papers are published every year and Litmaps is used by nearly 500,000 researchers to discover new research in their field. Litmaps visually maps how scientific articles are connected allowing researchers to explore their topic, find relevant research, and collaboratively stay on top of their field.
There are nearly 20 million graduate students who are pursuing master’s or a PhD through their research and ResearchRabbit is used by over a million of them as they iteratively explore their research topic and questions. Early stage research can feel messy and overwhelming and ResearchRabbit is carefully designed to help them follow their curiosity whilst staying organised.
