Job Description

The Chairperson leads the MK Netball Committee overseeing the administration of MK
Netball Inc providing netball for children in Eastern, Central and Southern zones. Elected by
delegates of MK Netball, the Chairperson is also responsible for representing the views of
the MK Netball Committee and the MK Netball Community.


All operational activities are undertaken by the Court Controller and managed by the Junior
and Senior Coordinators directly. The role of the Chair is to ensure processes are in place and
resources are sufficient for these other roles to provide services. Be supported by our committee to help keep netball functioning in our community!

You’ll work with:
● Committee members, school delegates and school co-ordinators
● Netball Wellington Centre and Netball Central Zone
● Key suppliers such as our local schools
What will I do?
● Chair committee meetings, Delegate meetings and the AGM
● Set meeting dates and agree agenda for meetings and the AGM
● Work with the committee to shape a development plan for MK ensuring planning
and budgeting is carried out in accordance with direction from delegates and MK
Constitution
● Oversee all contracts, MOU’s and kohas
● Liaise with Netball Wellington Centre and Netball Central
● Represent MK at external meetings, events, and activities as required
● Ensure good communication with the MK Netball community and other
organisations
● Support other committee members in their roles
● Liaise with Treasurer to ensure funds are spent appropriately and in the best interest
of the MK Netball community
● Approve any expenditure made by MK which is approved by the committee.
● Ensure compliance with legal requirements including health and safety, and the
Incorporated Society Act.


How much time?
● From 30 minutes to an hour per week, depending on dates in the overall calendar (ie;
meetings, planning, start of season)

Requirements of the position:
● Effective communication and a focus on solutions
● Enthusiasm for primary and intermediate school level netball
● Become well informed of all MK activities
● Gain a good working knowledge of the Constitution, MK handbook and anything else
that may be referred to
● Good organisational skills
● Be prepared to make a regular time commitment
● Be prepared to make quick decisions when necessary
● Confidence in public speaking and keeping order during meetings
● Be a supportive leader
● Be a good listener, engaging appropriate members in discussions.
